Went thru puddle - car flooded - placing insurance claim - totaled?

Something similar to me happened several years ago, and Geico decided to total the car because, as the claim agent told me, often flooded cars get moisture into the wires, where they cannot be dried out. So then the wires rust internally, and this often leads to sudden engine fire. So their policy was typically to total a flooded car (ours had been in water halfway up the side of the car door).
