When you first get your ears pierced what earrings can you chose from?

I want to gauge my ears but i know you have to peirce them first. I was wondering what choices for a guy would be good to make me not look stupid that i can get when i first pierce them. Im a metalhead, so i wear gory band shirts and black so keep tthat in mind when answering lol, i dont want a diamond. Thank you.
