How accountable would you hold an 8 yr old?

Just like any other child, when he acts up, there needs to be consequences. So I would say if her continues to not listen he should be told he won't be able to go out next time. If he still acts up, don't take him, but do make sure he knows your going. Behavior will soon change when he is with you. Or you can try another form of punishment, like if you go somewhere together and later go for ice cream, he doesn't get any. It might cause a fight between you and your boyfriend at first, but he will soon see that you did the right thing. Its better to talk to your boyfriend first though, and get him on the same page as you.
